Tanked up the Monster this morning (quite chilly in Essex) As I pulled up to the pump, I was forcibly reminded of it's tendancy to ice carbs, as it died immediately (prox 5 mins from home) Remembering that some had mentioned these new 'super' fuels as a possible remedy, I decided to chance it. Well blow me if it really *did* seem that the bike was running smoother, with more grunt. While it didn't halt the icing entirely, it didn't die again between Halrow and Clerkenwell, then back again, which it would normally have done in this weather. Slightly interested in the 'increased' performance though, I was expecting no difference at all. The icing is not really an issues since I am expecting Santa to deliver a nice sparkly [1] T995i sometime soon(ish) [1] Sparkly black that is -- Catman MIB#14 SKoGA#6 TEAR#4 BOTAFOF#38 Apostle#21 Tyger, Tyger Burning Bright (Remove rust to reply) Alfa 116 Giulietta 3.0l. Thereby exchanging carb ice for impossible to find and cure ignition/injection electronic problems. Nice. WTF would anyone buy that over a Gixxer Thou?
You're talking about the speed 4 *again* aren't you? Erm, well not being 5'8" or liking faired bikes has a slight bearing on it -- Catman MIB#14 SKoGA#6 TEAR#4 BOTAFOF#38 Apostle#21 Tyger, Tyger Burning Bright (Remove rust to reply) Alfa 116 Giulietta 3.0l. Ah you mean the Streetfighter type thang. Better but no Z1000 in looks. The swinging arm is a peach though. What does height have to do with a Gixxer though?
Not entirely no. I've always thought these claims were utter crap. However, the air was just as cold before I fueled it up, and I *think* [1] it was running substatially better afterwards. [1] not discounting sub-conscious self deception, and of course that it might have been a by-product of reduced icing. -- Catman MIB#14 SKoGA#6 TEAR#4 BOTAFOF#38 Apostle#21 Tyger, Tyger Burning Bright (Remove rust to reply) Alfa 116 Giulietta 3.0l. Well AFAICT noone's moaned about the Triple's injection Indeed, Longer seat to peg distance though. Cos I can't get my legs on the pegs comfortably! They're too bloody long. Errrm this sounds like bollocks, just my 2p. I do have a F.I. Tiger and Daytona. Perhaps you were meaning the TT600, because no other F.I. Triumph has these problems. -- Tim two#21, YGL#3 & BOTAFOT#84 Due to the limitations of current email, the lip movements may be out of synchronisation as you move your finger under the text while reading. tim dot ukrm at dsl dot pipex dot com

Eh? Not heard of _any_ of these on the Triumph trips. Even Timo's not had problems with injection/ignition, and the only electrical problem I ever had was when a coil blew, which wasn't exactly hard to diagnose. Good point. Some people are scared of proper power, of course.
Eh? Assuming you typoed T955i as T995i, that's usually only (mis-)used to refer to the Daytona 955i, which is more correctly a T595. The unfaired one is simply known as the Speed triple, aka T509.
I meant the triple I'm having a bad day...... -- Catman MIB#14 SKoGA#6 TEAR#4 BOTAFOF#38 Apostle#21 Tyger, Tyger Burning Bright (Remove rust to reply) Alfa 116 Giulietta 3.0l. Really, Sprint 1.7 Ducati Monster 600 Metallic www.cuore-sportivo.co.uk

And, amazing as it seems, not everyone wants 160bhp. I could buy a GSXR1000/R1/ZX10R/Fireblade for my new bike and I've decided against it. I don't need a bike that quick and I reckon I'll have more fun on something like a Bandit or an SV1000S. A Speed Triple does appeal as well but it's a bit more expensive.
