You got a paypal account? If so, I'll do the same (in GBP, not Euros).

I've not needed to start yet.

But, pretty much around the time I lie about completing in 1:39 when I
    gave up after three miles.

I'm hoping like hell that they don't have results online.

Get on with it. I want to be abusive and you're not helping.
Do you need a pit crew? You helped out enough when we were racing so
I'll be more than happy to help out by chucking a bucket of cold water
over you as you run past.
We'll find out the truth so don't try to hide it.

I'll try to finish. And I'll be back in touch in a few weeks...

    "Please sponsor me"

Wouldn't a pit crew carry deodorants or similar?
Depends on how well I bribe the race officials really.

So how did it go? I hated the wet bits but the rest was OK. 2:10
overall. *really* drunk now, of course :)

    Hmm.

Ran the full distance today (well a little further- just over 13.25
miles) and it took me 1:53. Felt a bit tired afterwards but recovered
    well enough.

After 11 miles it all got to seem very, very, hard. I think I probably
should have eaten breakfast and eaten more sensibly than a curry the
    night before.

I think I've got some work to do if I'm going to get below 1:40.

What I've learnt... I can do the distance. Training for a full marathon
will probably be very demanding time wise(the half marathon training
needs about 60-90 minutes a day, five days a week with all of the
faffing around before and after the run.) Running a lot makes you put on
    weight.

    Well done
Which half are you doing? The Bath I presume? I'm doing the Reading on the
    same day - good luck.

Yes, the Bath. I know several doing the reading so have a competitive
    angle on this one.

Most of the running club to which I belong are doing the Bath, but it filled
up rather more quickly than expected, so a friend recommended the Reading
    (he did it last year).

You should manage to put in a reasonable time, judging by your efforts so
far. I've done 3 halfs so far and my best time has been 1h 57m, but to be
fair, it was quite a hilly one. I'd be happy if I could get down to 1h 40m
and feel sure that if I continue the way I've been going, it'll be
    achievable.

Supposed to be doing the Meon Valley Plod tomorrow (19.5 miles offroad) but
I appear to have a slight ankle prob, which may see me having to give it a
miss. Rather disappointing if I do miss it, as I managed to run about 18 or
19 miles last Sunday and felt really good.

This is something I wasn't prepared for; the complete and utter paranoia
about injury to feet and legs.

I split a toenail on Thursday and went through a staggering amount of
worry about 'whether I can run like this'.

Well rather foolishly, I did the run today - fucksake, was it the hardest
run I've ever done! Mud up to eyeballs, trying to suck your shoes off at
every step, loads of bloody hills and to round it all off, my ankle got so
bad, I can now hardly walk on it. Spent most of tonight with my foot/leg
doing the 20 mins in icy water, 20 mins out regime. Thrown ibuprofen down
    my gullet too.

On the plus side, I got a medal and a t-shirt...!

Have been doing a little; tempo runs and 'fartlek' stuff.

Not really convinced although I can see I'm slowly getting faster. I
think 1:45 should be achievable. 1:39 might be tough.

Still, if I fail to manage it in March then maybe I'll do better in
September when I'm running another one.

Once a week, I used to warm up, then run like **** for about 2 miles,
about 80 - 90% effort. Certainly got the blood flowing.
Mind, I was much younger and fitter then, without the fucked knees.
Only cycling for me these days, I think the running fucked my knees.
