.... two performance feedback requests today: one for the person who
got the job I was after, and is consequently my boss, and one for the
    person who appointed them.

    "Constructive feedback is welcomed".

I'd best decline to comment, then, I guess.

You're just not being creative are you?

A nice bit of positive feedback on how they rise to challenges, just
to make sure they're offered a demanding "fast track" role sooner
rather than later, followed by suggestions for training and evelopment
on whatever [ath that ensures they're the most qualified/well placed
person to take on the most painful and soul destroying activities that
    exist in your environment.

I always choose a theme. This year I highlighted my manager's integrity. I
pointed out that she would do well in a compliance role. Making reference to
    this in every section.

Six weeks ago she got a new job in ABC[1]

It's not that I wanted her job. I couldn't take the pay cut. I just like to
present management with a new challenge every so often.

He's predictable, but that's to be expected.

[2] Clearly this is most likely to be a coincidence but, you never know, it
    may have sown a seed....

Heh. I think I do that every working day :)

I compared notes, a couple of years ago, with a mate who edits another
rather well-known business food title. Turned out we'd both had "hard
to manage" tags, which amused us greatly.

I'm very much in the same group according to many, but IMHO "hard to manage"
= "not necessary to manage". The problem I have with management is that,
despite evidence to the contrary, they haven't realised that I'm often right

[1] or at the very least more right than they are.
