You've hit the nail on the head. And guess who makes Minis?

I am mostly happy with the GS1150, but I do resent having to change
all the nuts and bolts for stainless... It would cost bike
manufacturer's much to have stainless in the first place and thier
products would look so much better without rusty bolts...

Most of the fixings on my Triumph are stainless from factory.

This is my bugbear with most new bikes I've bought. It's not just the
fasteners but also things like the oil pipe banjos. The rear one on my
nearly new 10R has already corroded. I've just paint them now with a matt
black touch up paint stick. My old Thunderbird was probably the worse.

  5. True. But it won't be the last item to fail in very short order.

To be honest i didnt buy it for its image or looks, to be honest it's
fucking ugly, but it does ride really nice & is comfy as ****. I hope
it's an isolated incident. I fear it may not be. Are the 1150's any
better? They have a few very clean ones with low miles. If this turns
    out to be a lemon?

Can a better seat be fit to the KTM Adventure? Not many bikes in this
    category tbh.

  10. You've hit the nail on the head. And guess who makes Minis?

Look, BMW's quality control and build has taken an appalling dive in the
last few years. Dunno why - my suspicion is that they've been
preoccupied with getting a new and comprehensive range of bikes onto the
market, in very short order, and development and QC have taken a back
    seat while they've done it.

I think it could take a decade before they get back their old reputation

Do you really think they'll even make the effort to get it back? I don't
    - it'll only cost them money that they'll probably never recoup.

They'll probably start caring about the quality rep once sales actually
drop noticeably. At the moment people seem to be happy to buy them so
    I'd guess they won't bother.
