An accident off the start was always gonna be a biggie. Standing near
the end of the start straight for the first lap is one of the great
sights in motorsport. Several hundred bikes packed together going flat
out on wet sand - madness.

Pity they had to cancel it, but 17 people in ambulances is a lot - I
doubt they'd have been able prove ambulance cover until hours later.

I made it up.

 

A thousand dirtbikes ranging from 85s to 600cc thumpers all heading
full chat for the first dune at the same time.

What could possibly go wrong ?

The event has got bigger every year, something was sure to go wrong
eventually. Time to break it up into several classes or heats.

 

Good point - I did wonder why the show couldn't go on.

I'll bet all 17 of them would want the race to continue next year tho.
