What a day ...

  1. As one of my earlier posts,Tuesday saw me drop the Breva into Gecko to
get the battery replaced and all of the connections checked.

A loaner bike was offered and I was off on a Ducati GT1000. Nice bike
but it reinforced my decision on the Guzzi. For me, the power and
sound of the Ducati was good but the riders position was awkward and
uncomfortable, I didn't like the mirror positioning and the gear
selector would need to be adjusted for me. Another thing I would need
to change would be the seat height. But I did like the power of the
    engine :)

Today, while traveling to work (on the loaner) the bike started
handling terrible and a vibration came though the whole frame. After
pulling to the side of the road, I found the air in the rear tyre to
be very stale and what looked like an old nail in the rubber .... This
was 7am, after waiting for someone to get to work at the bike shop
(8:30am), The mechanic came out with his ute and we trundled off to
the shop. He explained that while he was coming out, he arranged for
one of the boys to fit a battery to my bike and it will be ready by
the time we get there. The reason it hadn't already been fitted was
due to difficulties in obtaining the correct battery (they were trying
to find a maintenance free battery) and could only get a standard
    battery.

So now I have my Breva back, with a standard battery and all is good.
What I am surprised about is that even though the bike was a loaner, I
thought things like running costs and maintenance (Punctured tyre)
would be a cost to me. But not a mention of it at the shop, just a
smile and "have a good day" :) Kudos to Gecko :)

Another thing I noticed, an hour and half on the side of the road, one
motorcyclist stopped and checked on me, a ute stopped and checked, and
another couple motorcyclist gave questioning Thumbs up. I don't think
the rest of drivers and riders even noticed me. Ohhhh and a fully
loaded dump truck ...... looked up from my phone to see a dump truck
on the grass heading for me. He went between me and the bike (and
white post) back onto the road into the left lane and continued
driving ...... still don't know what the story was with that .... but
    I was suitable "awakened"

That's the second story I've read this week about someone stopped on the
side of the road who counted the number of passers by who stopped/didn't
stop to help. Did you actually want everyone passing to stop and check
on you? or did you look like someone who had everything under control?
If I see a bike on the side of the road, and the rider looks like they
might need a hand, and I'm in the left lane, and theres no reason why it
isn't convenient for me to stop, I'll stop and ask the question, but
they're standing around puffing on a ciggy, or drinking something, or
sitting in the shade, or talking on the phone, they'll just get a nod or
    a wave and a glance.

I'm sure if Biggus had passed and seen you with the Duc, he'd have
thought you looked pathetic enough to warrant stopping. :p

  3. You're right, I didn't want everyone to stop. I just thought it was
interesting the amount off people who did and the amount who didn't.

Still haven't worked out what the truck was doing......

Thanks for reminding me. I'm going to replace that stale ol air in my
tyres this weekend and time to replace the old nail with a new one.
Where can I get a can of new air?
