To register a bike that's been written off on a Cat D?

We (the boy-chic and me) have owned Cat D's before, but neither of us have
ever needed to re-register one, so what do we need to do?

This is for a bike btw, not that that should make much difference. Bandit
1200 that was written off through cosmetic damage a couple of years ago.
It's the one I've been getting back into running order (wonderfully as it
happens) and now that it's a runner and a stopper again, we need to sort out
the legalities and get at least a V5.

    TIA

The full info is buried somewhere in the DVLA site, but, from what I
remember, get the bike MOT'd - they'll put the chassis/frame number in
place of the Reg. Number on the form.
Fill the relevant DVLA form in, send it with your cheque to DVLA, who
will then either send a new V5 to you, or arrange to visit the bike to
see if it is genuine, or a clone.

Pretty simple really, took around 3 days for mine to come through,
though I did take the bike to them to inspect - they said there was no
record at all of it on their comp., so it will need checking. All he did
was check the frame and engine numbers.
