what? getting a new motorcycle from the dealer

Discussion in 'Australian Motorcycles' started by Jussi.Rintanen, Nov 17, 2006.

  1. So the Yamaha I ordered has arrived, and the dealer now says
that I can pick it up on monday because they have to assemble it
and drive 7 to 8 kilometers with it to see that it works. This is
a new motorbike, and it seems very suspicious to me that they
say that they have to drive it 7 to 8 kilometers. Earlier they
did not let me test-drive a similar bike because "after 1 or 2 km
it is not new any more."
    Any opinions on this?

They;re going to put it together, test ride and ensure all is OK and you
    have an issue with that?

Maybe they've got four other people who want to take that model for a test
    ride this weekend.

    Mongrel!

Don't worry, if it crashes you get a new bike! After a bike is assembled and
predelivered it will be test ridden to check the operation of brakes,
suspension, engine, etc. Most of these rides are 5-10km long.

The most I've put on a bike was 503 KM....it was a XL1200 Sportster for
Harley Davidson Australia's demo fleet. In a case like that it's nessesary
to run up 500-1000 KMs to get it thoroughly run in and checked out as it's a
good idea having a bike break down on an employee than a magazine writer! ;)

In the case of a shop's floor stock, not everyone has a demo bike of
    everything they sell.

Try a dealership with more bikes.
