What GPS is best for motorcycles

Ok, I been looking at those BMW with the GPS installed
and wanted to start a discussion about who makes the best
GPS to date for motorcycles. I was looking for something
that not that expensive (over $1000) and could have maps
    updated.

What comes to mind are those Garmin, are there others
that somebody want to vow on? What about posting some
sites whereas these GPS were used in motorcycles.

We have just been discussing GPS units in another thread.

I have just mounted a Garmin Streetpilot III on my Venture. It's a
discontinued model that can be had for under $500.00 Canadian right
    now.

Not a bad value for a GPS suitable for a bike. It's waterproof, good
memory capacity with the proprietary flash card, routing with auto
correct with picture and audio turn by turn corrections.

Before I bought this one I was looking at the Garmin Quest. Similar
features in the same price range.

Before buying the Streetpilot I was looking at the Quest but didn't
find it at the same price until after I bid on the Streetpilot.

Both look like good units and good value.

  4. I've got the Garmin 276C and have used it on the bike with a RAM
mount. It has a rechargeable battery so you can use it on the bike
without connecting any wires, and you can use it off the bike as well.

Of course, it does all the route-recalculation, map updating, and all
the other stuff that the StreetPilot and Quest models do. If you want
to take it boating, it does all the marine chartplotting stuff as
well, but I haven't used it for that yet.

By far, the biggest difference is the screen resolution. At 480 X 320
pixels, the 276C has four times the resolution of the Quest, more than
triple the resolution of the StreetPilot 2610/2650 series, and it even
has 40% higher resolution than the high-buck StreetPilot 2720 model.
The extra pixels make the display easy to read and decipher, and you
can see a lot more detail on the 276C. The daylight visibility on the
screen is also the best I've seen so far.

I second the 276c. Great all around unit, long battery life and the best
screen out there. Worth the price

I have a Garmin 2610 and it works OK - I don't know what they have updated
but I know this model is 3-4 old. I would love to talk with someone at
Garmin and tell them how to take this and make it a great motorcycle GPS
    with a few tweaks.
