    Good to have you back.

Maybe a bit of this would have helped?

I think that most of 'em are like that, with the exception of the
CarterCopter technology demonstrator and the RAF2000 enclosed-cockpit
ones. The two-seater I mentioned above can be likened to a kind of
overgrown bicycle frame; the closest there is to a fairing is a tiny
bikini affair that houses the instruments. The rear (instructor) seat
    is also the fuel tank.
    Indeed.

I recall many years ago seeing a kind of impact absorber for
helicopter seats that comprised a tube with an undersized sleeve that
fitted over it at one end (I think the tube end was swaged to fit). A
number of tubes were fixed to the cockpit floor and the sleeves to the
seat. In the event of a crash, the sleeve slid down the tube and the
energy of deformation of the tube absorbed some of the impact energy.

IIRC it was developed for military helicopters, butI suppose it could
have migrated to civilian ones, too.

I almost saw infinity between two mirrors...................but my fucking
head kept getting in the way.

I suspect that was definitely a whoosh. I only posted a link to a place
near Coventry called "Neal's Green" because I couldn't find a place near
Coventry called "Neal's White As A Sheet With Airsickness".

I wore leather trizers when I rode up to Coventry yesterday, for two
principal reasons: 200 miles of pants leg flapping in the wind gets
irritating, and there's a little outflow of hot air that hits me midway up
the right shin, that's tolerable riding into work, but that might become a
real nuisance over a longer distance.

  14. Which particular bit of our lot?
I used to, I've given up.

    And how do you?

I'm running out of people to vote for whose values come any where near
mine, at a national level it makes **** all difference (take just as
one example the anti war marches) and I've no idea how to start a
revolution that doesn't end in tears.

Which leaves single issue stuff, I'm no longer actively involved in
local campaigns, (there's a march in a week or so I'm not going on
because it will make no difference, it is a national policy being
imposed) I work in sectors where ethically I'll no longer withdraw my
    labour or work to rule.

Apart from trying to limit impact on resources and purchase ethically
what influence is left to us?

Ta, but I'm severely limiting my computer time ATM, as sitting up for
more than an hour or so gets very painful. Plus I've only got dial-up
for now - broadband should be arriving next week.
