I can't see it getting him anywhere, though.

I've not met him face-to-face this year, but he's certainly got a lot
    grumpier online.

My back is bent, my eyes are dim.

I've had back problems since I lifted a big bronze casting onto a machine
'cos the crane driver was on his lunchbreak. That was when I was 22 and I
popped a disc, so I've had back problems for 20 years anyway. One more
    won't make too much difference.

They've told me to stay off bikes and not to be heaving bikes around on
and off centre stands and stuff.

The pushbike I bought off ebay arrived today. :)

I also won a seatpost with built-in suspension and a set of bouncy forks
for the front which I can mount a disc brake on. Just waiting for all the
bits to come now. I had a little pedal round on it as it is though, and
it's a really high quality bike. 531 frame, mavic rims, new shimano
gearset and derailleur, weinmann brakes very light, and a bargain at £85.

Just need to make sure I don't hyperventilate and fall off the fucker...

  8. Look on the bright side - you've now got built-in streamlining.

Heh. I also bought a 3/4 horsepower dc electric motor and a voltage
controller. Its a reynolds 531 steel frame, so I'll just have to be careful
    with the MIG

Heh. My pushrod has sit up and beg handlebars so I can keep it all as
    straight as possible.

  14. Where - here? T'was the Temperance movement worried about the effects
on the poor working classes and their moral virtue.
The ban here was already in existance.
Don't confuse me and mine with the Temperance movement..

  16. Keep an eye on the thought police though, this investigation:
    http://www.careworld.net/Articles/q402/oct/enquiry after elderly deaths.htm
.... fails to mention that on the ward in question, most of the "elderly"
patients had painful and in many cases terminal cancer.

IMO the proper investigation is to find the *&^%wit who told the
families that the patients "should make a full recovery"

If I'm ever unfortunate enough to find myself or a family member in that
category, I'll be campaigning for morphine by the boatload, addictive or
    not.

  17. That's news to the thousands, nay millions of users through the
generations. A mild dependency can be attributed to it, but most
    certainly not a physical addiction.

I've never, never, met a serious hash smoker who gets into a bad state
when his supply dries up. Might get a little bit ratty for a while, but
nothing like the condition of withdrawal that afflicts heroin addicts.

    You're talking bollocks, old chap.
