What have I done?

  1. Hi all. Looking for some advice here. Bear in mind I know very little
about bike mechanics / electrical systems.

Anyway, I replaced the alternator cover on my 94 YZF600R. This was
pretty straightforward I thought. Disconnected battery, unbolted
cover, removed the stator from the old cover, bolted it into the new
cover and reconnected everything, and bolted the new cover on.

When I put it all back together and pushed the starter, just get
*click*. Sounds kind of like a spark but I'm not sure. All the lights
and the fuel pump come on. I thought maybe the battery was low after
sitting there for a few weeks so I charged it, no change.

    Suggestions please? :)

    Thanks.

    Starter Solenoid?

Make a direct connection to the starter motor and see if she spins up while
    you're at it.

    job.

  9. Thanks you three.. I'll clean the terminals / leads and make sure
they're secure. Also I'm gonna borrow a multimeter and make sure the
battery didn't just fail coincedentally / as a result of what I did..

Watching the rehash of "Dawn of the Dead" at the movies the other day, the
fidgety part of my brain went off and ran through this scenario of me and
bunch of other Ausmoteans (Sharkey was there, TB, JL-not you, the other one,
sorry, Marty, Al...) being stuck in the movie. Biggus was there, too, and
about a quarter of the way in, his constant bally-hooing made me snap and
hoik him off the roof of the shopping centre into the sea of zombies below
because he was being bad for morale... and nobody tried to stop me.

I like the guy, and I think I've got something of an idea of what he's going
through with the mangled limbs and all, but, fak me dead, is he ever an
    oppressively miserable bastard.

I thought of him a few times watching Aliens the other week, too... it
usually coincided with Hudson's lapses into "We're all gonna die"-ism.
