    It's a sort of electro-coating. The object to be coated is suspended
    in a electrlytic solution...

    Oh , I CBA, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anodise tells it better

  6. In uk.rec.motorcycles, Jones belched forth and ejected the following:
    It's a coating put on metal usually coloured and available in those nice
    purple bit you'll see scattered across many bike mags.

    If you've got a black bike, get some purple anodised bolts.

    Loz will be along shortly to add merit to the value of purple springs.
