What should I do?

Discussion in 'Australian Motorcycles' started by Baron Von Rotter, Feb 7, 2004.

  1. As most would already know, the ZZR has fallen of the sidestand and it has
scratches on the left lower fairing, no actual damage to the bike, just
    scratches, no cracks or nothing.

Well Im thinking about selling the bike because its just a bit too big for
my skinny little arse. The problem is do I go and get the fairing repaired
and painted and spend about $700 on it, or do I sell it as is.

?????? Am I likely to see the $700 back in the realistic sale price achieved
    ??????

What is a realistic price for an 03 ZZR1200 with sports pipes, top box and
side mount pannier system, 16K on the clock... assuming damage is repaired.

I would suggest get a real quote on what the damage is going to cost to
    repair

then advertise it priced accordingly and see how you go

some people might not care about a few scratches and those that do can get
    it repaired

eliminates the hassle of oh it would cost $2K to get that fixed

and you might just find someone that wants that bike but doesn't want to pay
    full price
so this could just suit them

  8. pessimistic... shit ! I got quoted $830 inc GST with the decals included
    with one guy.

every other person Ive taken it to has quoted at least $300 a piece - per
fairing ie $600 bucks, then add on the ZZR1200 decals... $160 - around $800
    again.

I guess I should keep looking then... :-( or do as J5 suggested

Last time I dropped the tz just a few weeks ago , I painted it myself ,
bought an Airless Wagner spray gun for $200.00
    Paint and thinners 126$
    sand paper $10.00
5 hours and some bog and glass I already had ,
now if you do this and buy decals your ready to go and will have some
    useful tools and experience
Incidentally Im not allowed to ride atm due to the back being rooted (
doesn't stop me ) but that's what happens when you drop at 1oo + k
lucky it was on a track ..
Im thinking your being a little defeatist here but the choice is yours.

To me? $2k. But it's not old enough yet anyway. ;-)

And you're selling it because you're too skinny? Visit a pie shop, man!

  17. If it's only gonna cost you $700 to get it fixed professionally, I'd get
it fixed. You'll lose more than that on the sale price, if it's left
    looking tatty.

Besides, a few (maybe a lot) of blokes will look at the scratches/scuffs
and think "Ooooer. She's been dropped. Wonder what else is wrong". Just
    a case of first impressions.
