Went out on my bike today (first time in ages) and it reminded me that despite recently having been serviced, including valve clearances adjusted, there's a noise from the engine that sounds like tappet noise. You know, a tapping noise at certain revs. I don't usually notice it because the noise is in the frequency range muffled by the earplugs. Today's trip was about 0.5 km so didn't wear them. The obvious answer would be just always wear earplugs until such time as the engine goes bang, but given the exchange rate is now 1.07, I would rather save myself the cost of a new engine (and/or bike/body should it give out at 150kph). I would post a recording, but it doesn't seem to make the noise when stationary, so it'd be difficult to obtain. Any ideas anyone? My first bike related post this century!!!
