What to do with a basketcase GS550E?

Discussion in 'Bay Area Bikers' started by George Mealer, Sep 27, 2005.

  1. So, I have this 1981 GS550E (think it's an '81, might be an '80--I can
check the title) that I'm not sure what to do with. I really need to find
a home for it somewhere else Real Soon Now, since it's currently on my ex's
back lawn but I have no idea where to take it to. I'd give the thing away
(and, in fact, if someone needs 198x GS550E parts, or wants a project bike,
drop me an email and you can have it--might even arrange to haul it to
you, if you want), but I don't know of a salvage yard that takes
motorcycles of this vintage/type. Fremont already passed on it.

    Ideas?

  3. Got that part down. I'm looking for a backup in case it doesn't pan out--
wrecking yards that'll take bikes, etc.

Fair enough. Although I'd be surprised if a post to craigslist wouldn't
resolve the whole problem quickly. <shrug>
