Currently driving a 1995 M plate Nissan Micra 1.0 litre Boston in red.
105K miles, with lots of service history. There's a few minor dinks but
overall condition is good. It'll have a full MOT and tax til end of
November. I'm flogging it because I have a new motah coming and a mate
wants to buy it for his daughter to trash.

    What's it worth?

I suppose that depends on your definition of 'mate'.

For £3.50 Glass's Guide will give you an individual valuation.

  4. What does it owe you? It's probably not worth much more than scrap value
    and a beer.

£300, looking at others that have recently sold on eBay.

  6. I think any old Micra with a year's tax and ticket has to be worth half
    a grand, doesn't it?

All those guides are *way* off right now, in terms of what stuff is tending
to fetch on the open market.

Prices actually being achieved have slumped on the bulk of stuff of late,
although given this is something noted for being fairly indestructable and
cheap to run, it might actually be worth a bit more than earlier in the
    year.

I had an idea it might be worth roughly 450 - 500, so I'll let him have
    it for 450 as he's a mate.

Are you suggesting he tax it just before he hands it over, then? :p

With the dinks and in view of the short tax, it's worth £350 max... £300 at
mates rates, especially if the daughter is fit and willing to take part in
    the usual UKRM initiation ceremony.

Ebay schmebay. So in the real world about 150 more to someone who
    doesn't use the internet?

  12. In previous straitened times economy cars always kept their value, so a
few hunnerd at a guess. More accurately than that, I could not say, but
it's certainly worth more than a little nowadays.

Like it or lump it, it's as close to a real time price barometer as you can
    get.
It's worth whatever he's happy to pay you for it.

Small cars are actually firming up price wise at the moment, not
    depreciating.

All these bankrupt former 'shitty' bankers need something to run about in
after the Bentley / Porsche has been repo'ed, after all.

  15. Ah, I didn't see the short tax bit. I parsed it as "full Mot and tax".

Mind you, a Micra's fairly cheap to tax anyway.

Well, I gave my Micra for free to Marina and Owen.

    YMMV

On what basis do you include Glass amongst them?
Ah, so you reckon Glass's valuation might be too low?
Ah, you mean Glass's valuation might be too high?

It's just as well we have you to keep us right.

And you can start by swapping "low" and "high". Ta.
