I've only ever been in Siberia, Bass St and the long-departed Hayshed
grandstands and I like Siberia the best of those but what are Gardner
    Straight and Lukey-Heights like?

  2. The grandstand at "The Knobbies" would suit you the best

Lukey Heights would be my preference. I've been in the Loop, Bass, and
    Lukey stands.

  5. I've been in "Gardner Straight", "Lukey Heights", and "Siberia" as well as
one of those top dollar tent jobbies, alongside Siberia. Don't bother with
anything but Siberia I reckon, unless you plan to get in line at sparrows
fart on Sunday and make a B Line to the hill beside Siberia. If you can get
on the fence there it's the best possie by far. Otherwise stick to Siberia.
Best grandstand for viewing by far. It is however, as you undoubtlably
know, a fair hike across the paddock come podium time.

Siberia for me too. It used to be a short bus-ride but since they got
    cheapskate it's a long trudge.

  7. Yeah - that was cool. The shit was that the only beer was Carlton but
I learned to get over it as it was free (well not really, but you know
what I mean). Talking to Randy Mamola for nearly 15 minutes was quite
    cool too.

Hmm; add in easy access to Yabbie-pies, GP merch and the Expo and the
ability to perve on the grid-girls and Gardner-Straight stand is sounding
    better all the time!!

Ri-i-i-i-ight... Ooooh, Clem, does that mean this year we can stare at
really ugly bikes (like the Gladys) without getting quite so wet on the way?

Hey, as an aside (oops, thred hijack) - after hearing so many fab things
about the bloody Gladys, I was at a local bike shop yesterday and I actually
    sat on one.

    I won't be buying one.

Remember when we peered through the window at PI at that ugly bloody thing
last year, and pronounced it ugly? Well, it still is. And it has a pissy 14
litre tank. AND, despite its best selling point - the 'low' seat - it didn't
actually seem all that low to me!

Yes, I know I am a shortarse - which means I am well qualified to comment.
The Gladys is allegedly MADE for shortarses, after all! What I found, when I
sat on it, was that yes, the seat was possibly quite low, and yes, it was
definitely very narrow at the front - (and the ride position was very
comfortable, thank you very much) - BUT - there's something about the frame
of the bike - it seems quite wide at about the point that my knees are - so
it seems wider than the SV, and doesn't end up feeling at all shorter
because my feet have to be further apart to touch terra firma.

My biggest beef with it is the weeny tank though. It may well be a fabulous
town bike, but because I'm not rich enough to have a bike for every purpose,
I'll stick with the SV for now :)

(snip bike report)I saw a report in AMCN and they LOVED Gladys! They pronounced her new and
exciting and the old SV to be stodgy...
Fark me; they must've been taking hallucinogenics!
    Hey, SNAP!
I've got a big beef weeny too.
