The screen looks subtly double-bubbled. The headlights look like they're
    off a Mondeo.

Bear? He'z just ziz guy, you know?
I'd much rather have an E1 9R than an R1. And I prefer the twin
headlamp 9R over the B/C models.
So you don't actually want you 9R back then? :)
I agree that those are 100% style misicons.
The 7Rs style is 80s. Reminds me of the teapot.

Since they've got cats in this might very well be part of the reason -
cats operate better the hotter they are, and the quicker they reach
    operating temperatures.

You know boy racers have the piss taken out of them because they fit
    exhausts the size of bins?

You could sleep in the air intake in the front of that thing. Surely
thats got to add a fair bit to the drag factor?

OK, OK, OK. Here's my take.

The ZZR "franchise" stole the show for Kawasaki when they released the
original 11. It was just the fastest thing ever.

The 12 was a bit more, but sort of got lost in the crowd.

They're trying to recreate the "feel" of the 11's release, so they're
    building on its image.

I wouldn't be at all surprised to learn that its 300Kph limiter isn't
working all that well when the press get their mitts on it. Kwak want
    the "biggest, baddest" badge back.

Standard disclaimer: I'm a bit pissed, and I love Kawasakis.

According to the press release, it *is* derived from the 12R's motor.
