  3. Be interesting to see what they crash like. I suspect that alloy
    monocoque will bend and crumple expensively.

  8. That won't be a problem exclusive to the 1400.

    All bikes using rigid thin-wall metal bend and crumple expensively.
    Thin-wall forks crease, so can't be straightened. Thin-wall frames
    crease or break, and ditto.

    Recently I saw a new-model GSXR750 that had had a minor 'off' and slid
    into the kerb. It was a write-off: the swinging arm was utterly
    destroyed, sub-frame broken, lightweight wheels badly deformed, caliper
    broken. These lightweight alloy components are *expensive*.

    For all that, it would have been recoverable if you had the right
    mindset. Aftermarket swinger, even a custom-made one, would have been
    cheaper. Replacement aftermarket wheels and brakes, etc etc.

  10. I rather like it. What is particularly interesting is the extent to
    which it looks like a slightly larger VFR750 from the side. The seat
    hump, the cut away in the fairing, even the front profile to a limited
    extent.

    I wonder if they are trying to send a subliminal message to former
    VFR750 owners?

    I had a VFR750FJ and then a VFR750FR. Their trickery hasn't worked on me.

    Those slits on the side look like some giant cat has swiped it along the
    side. Ugly as ****.

    Coincidentally, I've seen two red VFR750FRs lately. I had a moment of
    nostalgia on both occasions. Bless.

    Why would that matter? I'll reserve judgement until I've seen tests on
    the bike, seen the bike in the flesh and found someone who owns one
    that wants to let me have a go.

    I reckon it'll be a stormer but wtf would I know?

    Bear says...
    I never liked the look of the 7R. I always thought it looked bloaty
    compared to the 9R and it's J model predecessor. The C model 9R wasn't
    exactly nice looking, once they'd stuck the awful purple graphics all
    over them from the C2 model onwards.

    Lifes an education. I thought you liked the C1s, hated the C2s cause of
    the gay paint scheme, and of course the Bs are lardy arsed tourers
    (even years ago).

    Why do bike web sites always have shite, tiny pictures? You'd have thought
    there would be some mileage in producing PC wallpaper-sized pictures for a
    good slobber over.
