What's the consensus on the ZZR1400?

No doubt the speedo would have read over the magic number but looking
at it wasn't really high on my list of priorities at the time.

 

Not a lot apparently. A shade over 190 I believe. Mind you, going
down a tooth or two on the back would probably take you over.

Wouldn't surprise me, especially with a lard-arse like me aboard.

 

Hmmm. Given that I had it up to an indicated 290kph[1] last week with
a full tank bag pushing my head and shoulders up into the wind I'd be
surprised if a prone position didn't give significantly more. I also
had a small bag (with waterproofs) on the rear seat, which may
actually help the aerodynamics, as it effectively elongates the shape
of bike+rider, which gives a lower drag.

[1] 181.25mph[2], which from previous measurements is probably a
genuine 170 or so.
[2] And there was still a bit more to go, but I was running out of
room and neck muscles.
