What's up with my Triumph?

  1. I've been working on my '67 Triumph TR6R (650cc single-carb) and keep
having ignition problems. When I first got it running the right
cylinder would occasionally not fire. Suspecting the ignition system I
replaced it with a Boyer electronic ignition. At first that seemed to
do the trick. It would fire right up and run like a champ. I took it
out for short rides every weekend for a month or so.

Then a couple of weeks ago the right cylinder again stopped firing. By
swapping out plugs I was able to get it to fire randomly but not
consistently. It sat for a couple of weeks and last night I went out to
try swapping the plug wires and coils to see if I could locate the
source of the problem. But the damned thing ran perfectly.

I suspect one or both of the coils but am not sure. Can someone with
more knowledge offer an opinion? BTW, it has a new battery and I remove
the main fuse when it isn't in use.

    Thanks.

  2. I'm glad you like it. Did it help ease the pain? Have you tried
drinking beer out of it? I shot it with lacquer so I wouldn't drink
    hard liquor from it. B-))
