I have. Not in a touring bike though, just in a bike that tours.

I have also used it in my car and bike, and the only "problem" I can
report is the appearance of black soot-like material on the back of the
car when it is run on Optimax.

  3. I have too. In my retro bike that's not a bike but tours.

  4. You mean being denser doesn't qualify? Doesn't sound too sporty, eh?

  7. I don't understand, does that make it a tourer or not?

Hammo (dale will know, he is immune to media dribble)

*grins* You mentioned the other day something along the lines "like most
things you say this is 'technically' correct...
Well... I've slowed down a little these days... but I used to time
myself. As an (earlier) example a mate had a chain drive 4 cylinder
Z750 at the same time I had a GT750... we used to swap lots. The bikes
were identical in acceleration and top speed as far as we could tell
(the motors in these two models were the same spec... about 3 ps less
than the GPz750 of the same time).

We were both consistently 5 to 10 seconds quicker up the Mt Macedon hill
climb course on the Z750 than we were on the GT750... we used to do that
    run _lots_.

I have similar experiences from other bikes, but those two are the
closest match, and the single length of road is fixed length making
    comparisons more meaningful.
To be honest I haven't owned a bike (yet) that I haven't reached the
limits of... (sorry for the way that might read, but It's true :-/ )

I wouldn't argue with the last comment, not to mention that with fines
and points the way they are these days it makes sense to hoon 'slower' :)

I rode it over a thousand kms last week... and I can safely say I
experienced no denigration until after I got off the bike and started
    reading the news group *grin*

Hey, I was going to say that! The Doughville is a good exception, but
pretty near the only one (and a bloody porker for a 650 twin).
No Beemers any more either. Where's tomorrow's R65/R80? At least we can
still get a smallish general-purpose Guzzi (that I happen to like).
Me too! I might consider one then...
I see a lot of younger people buying sporties. I see a lot of older people
buying hogleys and battlestars. Considering the whinging they do (not to
mention how frequently they replace them), it often seems they aren't well-
served. But alternatives? Most people will pass on the big chookies and the
    posties and scooters.

    beached whale)

    All together now, BWAHAHAHA!

Dickhead. The word I meant was "countervail". Anyone want to have a go at
    answering the question now?
