care to explain why some brands give better consumption that others ?
that all depends on who makes it and what the ingredients are and what
    producats we
    are talking about
couldnt give a **** about advertising

all i give a shit about is driving as far as i can on a tank of fuel so i
    dont have to get fuel
    so often

my personal experience has been that BP has given me just that , versus
    the other brands hence YMMV

    No, I asked you that.
Isn't that what I asked about above? ..and yes, I was referring to
petroleum and "proprietary brand labels" that manufacture for others as you
seemed to imply that they were different.
    Get a bigger fuel tank.
YMMV where? Above was a discussion about how fuel is better because things
are mixed into cf those that aren't mixed into it. Also used was brand vs
no name brand to support this claim

fucked if i know, i listed my beliefs, they could be wrong of course,
if you know the answer then come forth with
ok if they are all the same then why get different fuel consumption with
    different brands ?
    not at all

in fact if they all stopped advertising then you might find cheaper prices ?
i dont pay for the car , i dont pay for the fuel , i'll be fucked if i am
    going t
to pay a huge cost for a bigger tank

I used to drive a transit van which was great as it was 700+ per tank , but
for some reason those idiots at ford fitted a 80 litre tank when there was
    ample
room to make it a 100 litre tank which woule have been much better for
    everyone
so i missed YMMV on some posts

here you go YMMV , i know mine does when i dont use BP :D

No doubt he can answer for himself.
Working in the industry he would have a better knowledge of what fuels
come from what terminals and are delivererd to which locations than most
of us, knowing where fuel comes from gives a lot of clues about it quality.

This has been done to death in the UK already. Please just google and
everything you've already said and are going to say is already thought
    about.

So, Kev would know as much as say the industrial chemist who put this
shit together? - or is it a case of "I work at a particular place as a
lacky... but I still know what all the degree people know..?"

Well, yes, but it didn't fall over until several kilometers later when I
stopped to take a photo. Well, it didn't fall over then, either, but it
was touch and go for a second. Damned Optimax.

Geez, how much time have you got?

Perhaps we should start time in the 1700's and progress from there?

    g.6484$...

    That would be ME

    the above is wrong
the fuel delivered from one terminal is the same no matter who it goes to
    there are no "Special Recipies"
there are however injector systems but, they are only on the PULP and
Kero/Jet(jet has the antifreeze added, blue kero dye is added later in
    the truck) lines
Caltex have their own PULP called Vortex, this is normal PULP with an
additive injected, everyone one else gets normal PULP

so with regards to the "Mobil" terminal, Mobil have their own PULP
called "Synergy" this would be the same setup as the Caltex, but all(yes
ALL) the other fuels are the same

it is uneconomical to do otherwise

I would say the same would be true for grocery items as well, why would
they go for added cost on "special" orders when the company already
    makes something

2004 was the last tender for supply.
    you snipped that bit.
Personal experience. The oil companies have contracted out the "more than
a 12 hour day" jobs for years, the rates were cut to the bones in the mid
    80s
and the only way the contractors can make a dollar is to backload a whole
range of liquids. In theory only diesel or ulp is allowed as a prior load,
    in
practice anything goes including herbicides and agri chemicals, solvents
    (which
are used by the seed crushers anyway). Ever hear about pink milk - happens
once in a while when a tanker carrying caustic soda crash loads milk turning
    it a nice pink colour.

Since Mobil Stanvac was closed the great majority of fuel comes from the
refinery that Mobil owns at Altona in Victoria. The redesign of the
refinery in the mid to late 1990s meant the closure of Stanvac.
Visit the seed crushers in Narrabri and Moree, or just follow a fuel tanker
into those towns and see where they backload to Newcastle, Brisbane or
    Sydney.
