Where do you fill up?

    So BHP or Bluescope?
I did? I disagree with you there.
I'm happy to believe that that is possible, as caustic (NaOH) is frequently
used for cleaning said milk vessels. Just outta curiosity, why does the
    milk turn pink?
Are we talking about the same thing?

You are claiming that food grade product is being deliberately transported
knowingly on a regular basis in a tanker that is clearly labeled what it is
    being used for?

    Hammo

BTW There was some "independent testing" under strict conditions performed
on samples of a number of "fuel sellers" that had had the fingers pointed at
them re: contaminated fuel/adulterated fuel. I'd be interested to hear what
you reckon the number of fails were given totaled?

  2. Hmm.
I've noticed a couple of the local Caltex outlets have 'disappeared'
the bowser stickers claiming they don't do that Alcohol stuff in this
    place etc.
Also noticed that a couple of these outlets, now and again, dispense
Vortex (as she is stated on the bowser) with the distinctive odour of
    Ethanol attached.
Proof? - always hard to come by, is in the form of the failure of my
daily driver engine to be able to generate pinking on this peculiar
brew no matter what - a distinct difference normally associated with
alcohol enhanced fuel from those places actually admitting they sell
    the stuff.
A friend who's a mite more sensitive to being ripped off than I am has
pointedly asked staff at these places for the specs on the fuel they
sell on days when the strangebrew is on tap just to stir it up a bit
but he's achieved unspectacular results. They just hand him the stuff
with a dull look on their mugs, apparently.

Not that I mind the fuel, it's fair stuff- BUT I don't like paying
vortex speshul prices for stuff other outlets are selling for up to 12
cents a litre less, on the same day. needless to say by the time
you've pissed about setting up the gassing up situation, it's not
worth the trouble to put a couple of litres in and then go elsewhere.
There's also the issue that I don't get a hell of a lot of time to
waste standing about with super safe slow filling pumps and also that
I usually run the car to damm close to empty before filling it.

    Lifes a bitch sometimes:)

Needless to say, the outlets I mention definitely don't run this caper
full time. Which is a pity, really, cause I'd like to be able to
organize some sort of reaming of the 'dealer principal(s)' (for want
of a better word) for no better reason than that the bastard(s)
deserve(s) it. Yes, i*am* being careful. So far :)
Memory is a tad hazy here, but I don't specifically recall seeing this
caper run at actual company owned sites. But it's a bit hard to tell
who's who at the zoo these days.

What sites are you refering to?
the one on Mile Platting Rd, Logan Rd, Padstow Rd intersection is not
Company owned and is not serviced by company trucks
    IFS/SEQF contractors service that site
    Don't know of any others
but if you suspect a branded site is selling Vortex that isn't Votex
then you should contact Caltex as they would be very interested

Naah that'd be third world countries like Oz.

Unleaded 91, premium 95, various brand names meaning super premium - 98 RON.

The US use MON + RON / 2 for their octanes, so a 92 octane in the US is
    about 97 RON IIRC

so then why does my fuel range vary depending on which brand i use ?
    who said added cost ?

they often make things to a price , or a recipe depending on who the cust is

or just to make things not quite as good as their major brand that they
    produce

of course there is products that are just stuck in 2 different packages like
    MR Western Star suggests

Are you sure that is happening?
    how are you testing this?

Are you suggesting that the terminals have seperate loading arms for
    seperate brands?

I can tell you that is not how it works

A meter that specifies the mass of a shop? No, sorry.

I buy BP at BP servos, because I have a company paid BP card. Everybody else
in Perth also uses BP fuel, no matter what the sign on the servo says.
Something to do with only having the one refinery in Perth.

by driving , there is a noticable difference in kays travelled to when i
    need
    to refuel ,

of course this can vary with type of driving and traffic etc , i have taken
    this into consideration
and over very similar conditions the amoint of kays drops when i use
    different brands

Ive found that with the Matilda/Freedom and other non big brand fuels my
previous Hiace started to ping a lot and when I changed back it stopped.
Kms did differ slightly, frig all and it wasnt seasonal really. Only made
20-30kms per tank diference so for extra reliability I went back to BP.

That doesn't mean the outcome of the conversation will be different in
any way to the rest of the world who have already had it.

All fuel is made to a specification - as Kev said if you think there is
something wrong get a sample and contact the oil company concerned.

Some fuel can be imported if the refineries are short due to shut
downs, problems etc but it will be reblended to Australian specs.

If you fill up at Joe Bloggs Special Service Station I wouldn't worry
about it because you will get what you pay for.

Note to forum - The Vortex additive is a very good cleaning additive
for your head and Fuel Injection system. One tank full is enough to
clean your injectors and if you use it all the time it will keep your
head and valves free of carbon.

Al recommends you use this(Al knows secrets he can't tell about
    Vortex)

Could always be that different chains calibrate their pumps differently,
and that BP's lie the least, so the amount of fuel on the readout is
closest to the amount you actually pump into your tank.

what the pump says has nothing to do with my fuel consumption

I fill it to the top and run it till the light comes on
it always clicks off when its at the top

the light is very acurate on this car as opposed to some others lol

The oil company's don't calibrate their pumps it's done by independant
companys. (Gilbarco etc)....most pumps are more than likely to be a fly
poo over than under measure. If the owner is caught adjusting his own
pumps he is in trouble with the law. Not many do in my experience.

The density is different between Unleaded, Premium Unleaded(95) and 98
    Unleaded.

Ya know that Matilda is just Shell by another name

the Freedom is a worry though
ya don't know where they get their fuel from, sometimes from Caltex
and they were the only ones in Brisbane selling E10 LRP even though the
signs on their bowsers stated their fuel had no Ethanol

    hmmm hardly a good indication
you fill up once a week, so every week you get a different lot of fuel
because each lot of fuel the terminal receives is different with
different density and octane levels, so the fuel you buy does vary from
    week to week
