I've had the same through Hotmail of all places.

I've noticed a dramatic reduction in the spam hitting my inbox in the
    last day or so.

    "Odd", thought I, "I wonder what's happened?".

What has happened, dear reader, is that Demon have turned on their
    server-side spam filtering.

    <happy, contented sigh>

Was just thinking the same. Indeed Hotmail of all email services gets the
least spam lately, whereas my account at ukrm.net gets quite a lot and I
rarely use that one. No subscriptions to that....odd

well, may not be that odd. I was being hit with hundreds of spam, most of
it was non delivery of mail I had not sent. then a zen.co.uk user got a
virus (that new one). I mail zen to ask then to contact the user to get it
fixed. It appears from all the headers, this person was the one sending all
    the false mail.

So it may be that the spammers have been hit hard because of a virus that
did not hide their originating IP addresses

  5. Agreed - just 2 spams have sneaked in under the Demon radar in the past 48
hours, and neither of them made it as far as my inbox as they were addressed
to user names that I do not download for.

    Yesssssssss!

Freedom2Surf started doing this last year. There was a big hoo-hah at
the time from people worried about missigng legit emails, but there
has been no evidence of false positives. I still use Mailwasher to
clean up the odd few which still make it through though.

  8. I used to get 30-50 a day on my old email addie (which I still use for
    my WorkTog Google login).

Someone told me to munge me email address on newsgroups. I get maybe
three or four spams a day now.

What's interesting is how the Nigerian scammers harvest their email
addresses. Extractor Lite seems to be the tool of choice.

    Good innit!

    It's not perfect - I've had about 6 spam emails today -
but it certainly beats the 200+ I was getting per day!
