Wouldn't everyone pay the same amount of gst, 10% of their income?

If you earn less than $30,000 you probably spend most of your money on
living expenses. If you earn $60k you've got the same living expenses (or
can have) and have the other $30k as disposable income. If you look at it
that way someone earning twice as much probably has 10 times the disposable
    income.

  4. Their salaries, the dole, spending on public housing that has been
damaged by it's occupants, catering to minority groups, and generally
tidy up their waste and extravagent spending.
    That should be a start.

  5. See "Yes, Minister".

Every project/policy has predefined measurable outcomes and criteria
on those measures for determining success or failure. If the
project/policy fails, then the legislation is reversed and those
responsible for are penalised for their failure.

Anybody who fails to contribute (as defined by pre-determined
measures) to a successful project is also deemed to have failed.

    Addendum:
Those who consistently fail over a period of 12 months have their
pay cut until Centrelink deems that they've exhausted all their
liquidatable savings and assets. They thereafter receive
unemployment benefits until they show that they're worth a cent
    more.

    Pollies need to be paid.
The dole needs to be paid.
    What solution do you propose?
Are you suggesting we stop catering for these groups?
Waste is a part of life.
Possibly that one area could be reduced.

In case you hadn't noticed, tax is not about rewarding people.

All of the most expensive workers at my work are the greatest value to the
company. I easily do 10 times the work of our cheapest employee and get paid
a lot less than 10 times his wage, which would be around $300,000.

Mid level managers I've know wouldn't do as much work as 1 fruit on any
    different day.

Hmm, with the exception of CEOs who get massive payouts even when they've
    let the share price halve.

    Ah well.

We'll start by cutting the $4.5B spent on "cultural activities" and cut the
defence budget in half - $7B.
    Easy.

And then ask if that's where our fuel excise is going, what is all that
income tax, GST etc being spent on?

I agree. Income tax must be the fecking hugest cash cow there is by a
country mile. I'm only 31, but I have payed around 1 million dollars in
income tax alone, so far. That's crazy dollars!

Well that will of course depend on where you live. Miltary/Spit Road and
the F3 piss me off the most. both suffer the 3lane-2lane-3lane syndrome.
Military and Spit roads also gets the a myriad of bus stops with no bays
which can reduce some spots to 1 lane. Hardly what you expect for one of
    Sydney's main roads.

  18. Imagine if it ALL was spent on roads - what other services, that are
currently being funded, would we have to do without? Or how much more
    tax would we be paying?

some days i think i should quit work, go on the dole, i get a free house, i
get heeps of money for me beer, i dont have to pay power rent, i get a phone
installed dont pay the bill but still get to keep it to call 000 for
everytime i have a problem in my life.

buy a old ford falcon, or better yet steal one, dont bother putting rego on
it, if i get caught driving it, i get a free solicitor.

have a couple of kids, i get more money that way.

But you find most new born babies are made up from houso's, because regular
people cant afford to have 1 kid or the time ot raise it, and a houso can
    have a dozen.
