Where to buy a helmet?

I don't want to order online because I don't really know what I want and I'd
like to take a look at as many as possible before I decide.

Can anyone recommend a shop which stocks a reasonable selection of helmets
within, say, a fifty-mile radius of Gloucester?

I've been round the Gloucester/Cheltenham dealers and I suppose I'll try
George White in Swindon and Skellerns in Worcester next.

    Have I missed anywhere obvious?

Bristol has a Hein Gericke - staff quality varies by location but they have
always been okay there. Also a branch of J&S in Filton. Both carry cheap
scooter boi plastic things for £30 to Arai jobs for £500. Bath road m/c
    stock the Schuberth range http://www.bathroadmotorcycles.co.uk/clothing.asp
or go next door for the same thing with a BMW badge.

Haines in Cinderford used to have a decent stock of clothing but I haven't
been there for a while so no idea how they are doing in the current
    climate. http://www.hainesmc.co.uk/

There's a place in Lydney. I bought my last pair of leather trousers from
there. Still going according to yell.com cropped to http://tiny.cc/lydney

    Newport has http://www.sw-superbikes.co.uk/

Just outside Newport is a branch of Thunder-road, a 5 star Arai dealer

Hene Gericke in Cheltenham, Frazers in Gloucester. Heine Gericke in
Bristol is virtually next door to another motorbike shop. Road Runner
in Stroud. There's also a good little shop that mainly specialises in
trail bikes but does other stuff round by Kwik Fit in Stroud.

George White are probably the best bet. The huge new outlet centre's
open now & has hundreds of helmets, & there's loads in the other two
    buildings too.

if your in no great hurry to purchase a helmet why not wait until the
usual fiasco at the NEC called the Bike show, there you can spend days
looking at helmets of various quality and price.

BVM? Used to have the BMW franchise until they refused to spend
thousands on blinging up the showroom

I was in there earlier picking up some fork seals, and they have all

NO. Schuberth make the helmets[1], BMW stick a badge on and 150 on the
    price tag.

[1]Overpriced when in Schuberth guise for what they ar.
