    I've just done an oil & filter change today on my old `83 gsx250 - a twin
    air cooled jobie. At the Susuki shop the fella suggested 20w50 oil
    which I greabbed, but now I'm worried cause the bike has labled 10w40 on
    it. Will the 20w50 oil not be the best thing for it? Should I change it
    back to 10w40?

    Cheers

    If you're in a really really cold place then a 10W might be necessary;
    otherwise a 20W-50 is gonna' be better.

    As above.20w50 will most likely do a bike of that age.My old CXs are
    supposed to run on 10w40 mineral but it's hard to find so I use
    cheap,"Duckhams Green" 15w40 with no problems.

    It's always better to change oil more often than the manual says so
    use cheap stuff and often.

    HTH :)

    10W-40 is only a guide. If you actually had the manual in front of you you'd
    find that it's acceptable to use numerous different grades, and 20W-50 is
    fine. Usually they only write 10W-40 etc on the cap though.
