What's the frame differences. When I parked my C1 ZZR next to a mate's
1996 model, I couldn't see any differences, other than the twin nostril
air intake, different graphics, fuel gauge and the taillight
differences. Other than cosmetic stuff, they looked the same.

Perhaps I need new glasses or something...

    I have a relatively dumb suggestion[1]:
Why not just spot-weld a locking-tab washer to your front sprocket,
torque the nut appropriately (using Loctite if you wish), then bend up
    the locking tabs?

Seems like less effort, and if you stuff up you've only ruined a $25
    sprocket...

Or do a hondaish thing, drill and tap a couple of holes in the
sprocket and screw on a 'nut retainer' plate.

The info that I got from the magazine was that it may be an
across-the-board problem. But I've not found any other info to confirm
this. Whatever, it was a problem on my C1 model.
