My Arai quantum helmet is a few years old now but very cumfy, probably to cumfy and not the correct fit so i have two questions. 1, can i buy new insides and are they easy to fit? 2, can i get something to clean the insides and stop the whiff? Ta Alan --
Cheek pads, yes, but they're not cheap. http://www.whyarai.co.uk/spares.php Just take the inners out and wash them.

I did have a little pull on the innards and stopped when I also thought they were stuck well. Shower, now thats a good idea for when I am not using it for a while, sorted. Thanks Alan --

So how many times have you used it, altogether? -- Catman MIB#14 SKoGA#6 TEAR#4 BOTAFOF#38 Apostle#21 COSOC#3 Tyger, Tyger Burning Bright (Remove rust to reply) 116 Giulietta 3.0l Sprint 1.7 GTV TS GT 3.2 V6 Triumph Sprint ST 1050: It's blue, see. www.cuore-sportivo.co.uk
Use baby shampoo as it has neutral Ph. Then dry it by hanging it from the strap in the airing cupboard until it's dry. Don't force dry it with a hairdryer or anything like that as the expanded poly liner will go brittle and make it unsafe to use. As it's an old helmet I'd seriously consider buying a new one if it no longer fits properly. They stopped making the Quantums about 9 or 10 years ago, so your's is well past its sell by date -- Lozzo Versys 650 Tourer, CBR600F-W racebike in the making, TS250C, RD400F (somewhere) BMW E46 318iSE (it's a car, not one of those 2-wheeled pieces of shite they churn out)

Hardly used between 2002-2009 though so I'd be interested to know why it might deteriorate?
The expanded polystyrene liner ages and deteriorates with time - it goes brittle. That's the bit that absorbs the major force from any impact, so it needs to be right to do its job properly. Added to that, your head sweats when you're wearing the lid, if the interior's not cleaned then the oils and other substances in your sweat will attack that liner too. Leave it a few years and it'll be manky and the liner will have degraded to an extent where it's not going to do its job when required. There are issues with the composite structure also degrading over time, but I don't know much about that side of things. I've never had any one helmet that long to find out. At the moment I have two Arais[1] and a nitro flip-front. The Arais are both coming on 4 years old and will be replaced when they've reached their 5th birthday. It's just overspray Nige, no problem. And from all accounts, your scrotum would bless you for the increase in size anyway.
