Maybe said driver had been stuck behind a group of inconsiderate cunts
a little earlier, so wasn't feeling well disposed to crap cyclists?
....by not forcing them to drive at 15mph on an NSL while you pootle
    along chatting to your mates.

    Try my commute.

Several cyclists a day, if I'm in the car I frequently have to join the
end of a stationary queue of 20-odd cars from the knock-on effect.

I don't understand why people get so het up by cyclists going through
red lights. It's their lives they're risking. I once hit a cyclist who
did just that. I was in an MG midget and the rider went over the top but
the bike went underneath. Luckily he was't badly hurt and there were
loads of witnesses. More fool them I say.

Paid for any damage he caused did he? What would've happened if you
were on a motorbike? Etc etc.

What about if a car filters past you when you're on a bike, and he hits
your mirror? I dunno about you, but I found that more than a tad
    disconcerting/dangerous.

Not at all, that's exactly what I do & exactly how I feel.
Filtering's meant to be a non-contact sport, so yeah, that would be a
    bit disconcerting.

Right. Well, imagine that it was you on your way to work on your bike,
and that every time a car came along you had to waste a minute or so
stopping and starting. I think you'd quickly change your tune.

When I was doing a 20mile commute by bicycle from MK to Bedford much
of it was also on narrow roads, so I'd make sure to ride some distance
from the kerb to stop cars trying to squeeze past where unsafe, then
I'd move in and/or wave them past when I could see they had enough
space to overtake. Nobody ever had issues with this AFAIAA; certainly
never got shouted at or honked. And anyway, as I'd normally have been
doing ~25mph it's not really _that_ much of an issue for the driver to
    slow down a bit.

And what would have happened if you'd been on a motorcycle, instead of
    inside a car? YTC.

I wouldn't be cycling for a hobby then, I'd be commuting, which is a
completely different kettle of fish. I don't mind waiting to pass a
sole cyclist - I do mind being stuck behind a group who are riding 2/3
abreast on narrow roads at the tail-end of rush hour purely for social
    reasons.

Hang on, you can't just walk away. There's a poor biker lying bleeding
in the gutter, under a mangled Kawasaki, and the miscreant is trying
    to escape on his fixie.

A web site devoted to arguing semantics about what the money you pay for
    a tax disc is called?

    Nice? Fucking sad, more like.

I don't give a shit. By virtue of his _licence_ to use the road he
has a duty of care towards other, more vulnerable, road users.

Remember, pedestrians, horses, and cyclist all use the roads by legal
right. Every other vehicle is by licence.
So someone being held up for a very short time is more important than
    someone's life?

Yeah it's a problem. Should be the other way around. VED should pay for the
roads and those who pay should have priority.

    Kinda like Death Race 2011

That would appear to be the problem.
And *all* road users are meant to give due consideration to other road
users. Deliberately blocking them isn't showing consideration.
I didn't say that as well you know. Deliberately holding up a queue of
traffic because you want to pootle along chatting to your mates is a
selfish, inconsiderate, cuntish thing to do. End of.

Happy to. I pay hundreds of pounds of VED, should cover the impact a
couple of pushbikes makes on the road quite easily.
