If I ever have to go near the fucking place again you will all read about it in the national press the day after. And pipe fitters (with one notable exception) ARE ALL FUCKING CUNTS, THE FUCKING LOT OF 'EM. That's all... Using the patented Mavis Beacon "Hunt&Peck" Technique, Grimly Curmudgeon An interesting theory. From the IoM, are they?
Fortunately not (well, not so far). You have my deepest sympathy. With 20 days to go to opening, and the place like a building site you can just imagine the mayhem. -- Dan L Too much time to think, too little to do. http://thebikeshed.spaces.live.com/ 2002 Triumph Sprint RS 955i (It's big, and it's black) 1996 Kawasaki ZR1100 Zephyr (Gone, but not forgotten) BOTAFOT #140 (KotL 2005/6/7/8) X-FOT#000 DIAABTCOD #26 BOMB#18 (slow) OMF#11
I can positively guarantee that you will be there for much longer than an hour. You will need to be inducted before entering site if you intend carrying out any site based activities, and that can take up to 3 hours depending on how many there are turn up and whether they are running to schedule. Parking (for cars / vans anyway) totally sucks, you need to be there at about 5am to be able to park within walking distance (i.e. within 1 mile) of the site. I would not go there on my bike as I can't think opf anywhere I could safely leave it. It will suck the life out of you.

I love the propaganda on their web site, painting the area as some kind of far-out Belgravia full of beautiful thirtysomethings with bulging wallets. Last time I was in White City it was solely for work purposes and it was still full of crackheads. There's lovely.
as does Mark, if you catch him before he does the "you're my best mate" routine prior to entering an alcohol induced coma.
I'm sure it'll all come together, these things usually do. The way one has to physically organise and carry out work on the site is extremely difficult, and ultimately very frustrating. The stations look really good actually.
That is what annoyed me most in my old job. I was servicing photographic equipment. We had a machine in a large shopping centre, right next to the car park (pedestrian) entrance. If there at 8:30. you could park within 6 feet of the machine, it would be possible to be in and out in 10 minutes. But, as they had warned my boss to adhere to their rules, I would have to sign in at the 'Security' desk. Which was 10 minutes walk away on the public paths, or 5 minutes via the centres rear walkways, and of course, before signing in, we had to use the public paths only. Then get a lecture, every week. on what I could and could not do when on site, memorise the fire exits etc. Then when I was done, walk back via the rear walkways, sign out, then take the long way back to the van. Easily 40 minutes every week for 10 minutes (or less) of work. Common sense eludes them. Alan.
alan@darkroom.+.com (A.Lee) wrote in alan@darkroom.+.com: Bureaucratic maybe, but without such procedures anyone in an overall could park up, get to your machine and be out within 10 minutes. I assume this machine takes cash, so a potential target for common theft? Personally, I'd be happy to put up with 30 minutes of inconvenience to me, for the assurance that one of my income streams is being protected in such a manner.
Exactly. The number of times I had tussles and arguments with security wankers over trivial things [mostly, you can't park here and take your helmet off] and I ended up just shoving a consignment in their hands, telling them that if it didn't get delivered to Mr X, their arse would be toast. Oddly, not one of those consignments went astray.
I was in a Primark a couple of weeks ago[1]. Dear fucking god, what an awful experience. [1] needed to buy some "smart casual" clothes for #2 sprog's two-week work experience in a local council office - didn't want to spend more money than necessary on clothes that he'll never wear again.
