This has been a good source of routes and places of interest to visit
in the past so here we go again...

If you had just under 2 weeks to get from Curtea de Arges in Romania
to Stenden in Germany by bike in late August/early September where
    would you go?

We're not long back from a 7500 miles 2 week 'break' on that big
island off our shores and we'd like this 2 weeks to be a bit more
relaxing, i.e. we enjoy riding but we'd like to cover fewer miles next
time and visit some interesting places.

    Thanks.

The route appears to take you directly through the Austrian & Bavarian
    Alps.

This place in Malta, Austria is getting very good reviews on UKGSer

Ask for a free pass to get over the Grossglockner.

I had a pleasant week here - it was a lastminute.com package. Ended up
being organised by Inghams. Nice valley to do a bit of hill walking.

I stayed in Niederau in the Hotel Hafenwirt but the larger village of
Oberau might be a better place to stay.

The Krimml falls are worth visiting. You could spend a whole day there
walking the routes around the different sections of falls. They are at
the one end of the Gerlos pass which is a nice road.

Pertisau on Achensee would be a nice place for a few days. Funicular
railway to Jenbach for the train spotters.

I haven't done it yet, but there is a road that travels west to east
along the Bavarian Alps. Hitler's Eagles Nest is at the eastern end and
Lake Constance in the west. The Alpenstrasse mentioned in
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Weitsee
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bundesstraße_23
It does not have its own wiki page in English but there is a .de one

Don't bother with the Romantische Strasse to go north. It's largely full
of trucks. Although, Rothenburg is quite pretty but very touristy.

If you want a couple of days in a city then visit Salzburg.

Lake Bled, Konigsee, Baden Baden, Heidelberg. And the fun roads in
    between.

    Oh (with apologies) and
    1) read our write-ups
    2) next time see a bit more of England - the nice, friendly bit near
    Scotland!

Thanks Wessie and Colin. Time to fire up Mapsource and Google.
