Claims to be an XS400SE. I don't think it is. And it isn't an SE, for a
    start.

Secondly, this looks very like the last version of the XS250, with the
big tank, odd spoke pattern and drum brakes. We never got a 400cc
version of this model in the UK.

    Lozzo? You know Yamahas.

Some silly sod has already bid £500 on it.

  2. Nah, they did build a TLS front drum "economy" version of the XS250.
Like they did with the Kawasaki Z250. Old SR250s (I've owned a couple)
had SLS front drums, and lethal they were too.

He also appears to be running a commercial website, but has opted out of
the whois service as he's declaring himself as a 'private individual'.

Do you think he's trying to hide something?

That red XS400 looks nice, granted, but I love the picture captioned
"engine strip and rebuild" when all they're doing is a top end overhaul.

So yes, that XS is dodgy as **** and then over the dodgy boundary and
    into the trees for six.

  11. Possibly an attempt at imitating alloy-wheel patterns that were
coming into vogue around that time. ISTR a number of "5-spoke" designs.

    I think you're right. I don't recall ever seeing a 400 version of that
    model XS.

  17. And even after its "rebuild" (which apparently only consisted of hitting
the crankcases with some black paint) it's still got the horrible crease
    on the seatcover.

    Such attention to detail.
