The plan is to enter in 2012 and so far three of us have said we'll
enter plus another who's a maybe.

It'll be done on the cheap by purchasing bikes off Ebay (1), throw
some desert tyres on them, load them into a scabby old Transit and go
for it but if anyone wants to play at being part of a team they can go
as the 'service vehicle' and act the **** at a lower cost than
    actually entering.

It'd be great if those of us entering had enough money to pay all the
entry fees for the service vehicle plus fuel etc but it's not going to
happen so I'll be paying the 250 Euro charge for the Unimog to get my
kit about and recover me if needed.

I'm only posting this on here because plenty of people have said they
want to go to Morocco and this might give them a date to aim for and
something to laugh at if they get there. There's no chance we'll have
room in the van to carry spares or kit for those on smaller bikes but
if one of the race bikes gets abandoned that could all change on the
    return journey.

It'll be a laugh and nobody seems very keen on our other winter trips
because of the cold but this takes away that excuse...

    (1) I might modify my Tenere and take that but suitable bikes are
available for under £1.5k on Ebay and another £500 would see spare
wheels purchased and a service carried out.

Did I forget to tell you about that part?

I don't think it's that expensive compared to European traffic fines.

Might go along to watch. But like I said in the other thread, in 2 years
    time, who knows.

Will the support vehicles be classed in the Amateur Car group?

I'm too fucked to do it by bike but I'd love to do it by support vehicle,
especially if it's essentially driving the same route.

Needn't cost the world either, first hit on EBay:-
    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/260616439917
(yes I know it's a heap and has no space for "support stuff" but it's the
    idea!)

I would imagine those that want the support of a support vehicle would chip
in with the owner/driver(s) stumping up the rest.

If you've got a mailing list going, put me on it.

Nope. Have a look at the FAQ on the site and it tells you what they do
and where they go. The regs tell you what you need if you want to
    enter a car.
It's only 250 Euros to have the organisers carry a box full of spares
around, an extra 100 for a second box and 30 per wheel. That includes
recovering you if shit happens and petrol on longer stages which is
why I said paying for someone to drive a support vehicle around is a
    non-starter.

Obviously I'd sooner pay those fees to someone I know but that's as
far as it'd go. You need to understand that it's not a seriously
competitive rally and as such they're geared up to recover fucked
bikes and make sure you've got every chance to fix it because they
    want everyone to finish.
I'll only sort out a mailing list if several people express an
interest in going so there's nothing on the go yet.

Got any more details about September?

I'd need to schedule it to not clash with the family holiday, and vice
    versa.

Take away the costs for the ferry then it doesn't look too bad for
over a week of racing a motorbike. How much did those fuckers charge
us per 6 hour race when we were endurance racing?
