YAMAHA TZ 250 1998 GRAND PRIX RACE BIKE in very good condition. New
crank fitted last Christmas has done 800 kilometers (500 miles).
Pistons have done 250 kilometers. New fork seals fitted last month.
Ohlins shock. Very reliable bike that is easy to start and easy to
    maintain. Comes with 14,15 & 16 tooth front sprockets. 36, 37, 38, 39,
40 & 41 tooth rear sprockets. Most main jets from 300 through to 600.
    R3, R4, R5, R6 & R8 nozzles and a spare 2nd hand crank. (The crank
that was removed last christmas). Bike is currently fitted with 95
cylinders and leaded heads. Airboxes come as spares. Bike was a wild
card entry at the 1999 & 2000 Australian round of the motogp. Still
good enough to finish top ten in Australain Championship but used
mostly in club meetings this year. Can transport to Melbourne &
Brisbane for $130. USA and Europe somewhere around $1,000. Maybe a
little more for overseas but that is an estimate I was given.

That can't be legit for that price.
They're $40K new... and this has got the Ohlins treatment.

    $40,000 -> $7,000 in 5 years??

    Going rate I've seen for 125s (haven't seen many 250s) is $2000 - $4000 for
    circa 1991 models.

Guess I should buy it then ;-)

Your $7K would probably make a good deposit on a 5 year old Commodore while
you went to the bank and got the other $7K.

  8. They are worth NOTHING second hand. 3 yr old is not competitive, so
    who would buy it?

  9. yes it can.
a year ago the previous owner came into my work for grommets to plug a
hole in the airbox, it was on ebay then too, i asked him how much he
was looking for and he said about $8000-$9000 so $6700 aint too far
    off that.
hmmmm..."no officer, this is a tz_R_250. see the stickers?" hehe...

  10. that's a little below the going rate but it doesn't have much in the way of
spares. Don't forget they have a VERY comprehensive spares kit when new and
nobody pays the retail price for them. A 98 can still be very competitave in
Oz so it's not a bad buy, a lot better than an R6
