Because on your way home from buying a motorcycle , you won't be too late
    for dinner?

I'm curious to hear how you think it compares to the VTR.

it isn't as lumpy, that's for sure. But then I have only ridden it about 35
miles on 101, the Golden Gate Bridge and to the Haight.
It does feel a lot like a four ought to, though, smooth, linear power
delivery, not a lot of heavy engine braking.
But I notice it might have a brutish personality lurking somewhere around
    9000-12000 rpm.
But if it handles the Panoramic, Hwy 36 and all those fun roads with as well
as the VTR , then I'm sold.
It'll take me at least 5000 miles to learn it, then another 25000 to really
learn it, then I will really let you know what really think about it...:)

hehehe... Well, anytime you want to run the R1 side by side with a VTR for
comparison (or better yet, switch back and forth between them hint hint),
drop me a line. It'd be cool to do Hwy36 at some point before the rains set
    in for real.

    Yes!!!!
Perhaps a Norcal group ride, or something like that. Overnight in Red Bluff,
then over the mountain to Fort Bragg then down the coast to wind it up.

Woo hoo! That sounds like a plan. Next couple of weekends are kind of
booked for me, but I should be able to *just squeeze in* a ride like that
around mid-Oct, when the rains start for real (sometimes). Let's work
    something out.

    Hi Jim, Hi Holly

    I've been wanting to do a Mendocino>Hwy 36>I5>Hwy 96>Mendocino loop before
the rains start, and sometime in October sounds great. Keep in touch and
maybe I can cruise along with y'all. I could probaby keep up....

I guess maybe I wil have to, now that I am invited...
But I was thinking about heading north over the Panoramic, then up to Jenner
and back, but I could be persuaded to head south...

basically, except for a steering damper of unknown origin
Asphalt and black...not my first choice,,,but the price was right.
maybe on the VTR, as I am fairly literate on it at 54K miles of
    practice...:)
