Why won't it start?

Modern by my standards is anything after 1971 that does not get free tax.
The GS500 has a reserve tap on an 03 plate.
Show me a few 89 model bikes with a warning light instead of a reserve, I
doubt if there are many, but ICBW.

The meaning of the word modern doesn't change just because you're not
    up to date.

Cor, what was it like in Hades? I know you had only 30 secs, but first
    impressions and all that.

It's the mild weather, it's started to ripen.

I *really* like mine. Got my 2.8L diesel started in a carpark in the
Alps, in the pissing snow, after three attempts on the starter. Those
three tries were after the final attempt using the car's own battery
alone ended with the starter relay's death-rattle.

Didn't the YZFs of a few years later have a switch on the fairing that
was meant to be a reserve-tank switch but really just turned the fuel
    warning light off?

  9. The FJ1100/1200 had that before them. The ridiculous thing was that,
AFAIR, what it actually did was *simulate* running onto reserve by
making the engine stumble until you flicked the switch.

    BICBW.

I thought that was the Virago.

  11. IIRC it was anything with an electric reserve switch.
