    I have, in the garage, an old Jag toolkit that I liberated from the
    boot of my old XJ6. It isn't complete, but most of it is there. Would
    you like it?

    LOL, our French teacher was French, tiny, figure like Kylie Minogue but
    bigger tits, but with a face like a pug that'd been hit with another
    spade, and a temper to match. The maths teacher would probably have
    looked Ok, if she hadn't been a nun. (Catholic school!)

    Game on. I'll drag it out and when you're going to be out and about,
    we'll see about coinciding, or URing.

  7. You find the oddest things in the side panels of Jag boots. A mate of
    mine discovered the cause of an intermittent rattle that had been
    bugging him - a couple of dozen 12-bore cartridges. He'd owned the car
    for a little while by that point and drove it around in his bike jacket
    with longish hair and beard on. Just the thing to get pulled in, really.
    "I didn't know they were there."
    "Yeah, right."

    I wonder...

    Hit a pothole a bit quick, and one gets bounced onto a screw thread or
    something in just the wrong way...

    Very unlikely. Shotgun cartridges need a quite accurate, hard thump in
    the right place to do their thing.

  11. It is now, afaik, I don't know if it was then (1992).
    I suggested just giving them to a shooter, but he handed them in to the
    cop shop, and no eyebrows were raised.

    Great stuff. It could go in the post and I could send you some money -
    saves faffing around.

    Hang on, I'll weigh it.

    <exits, time passes>

    <shuffling and rattling, backstage>

    <enters, triumphant>

    2Kg, give or take.

    <exits to website>

    <rattling in wings>

    <enters, crest drooping slightly>

    ?4.41 for a standard parcel, up to 2Kg. ?7.06 if it goes over that -
    but it shouldn't as I'd do a sheet of brown paper and a bit of parcel
    tape, it's a substantial case.

    What do you think?

    I'd bet they're all churned out at the same factory. Snap-On charge for
    their guarantee, but the percentage of those coming back will be far
    outweighed by those that rarely get used enough to break or bend.
    Mine was brought into action yesterday when the fire went out in the barbie.
    I used it and another pair of normal pliers to hoik the charcoal containing
    grill out of the drum while the stuff was still putting out a shit load of
    heat, so I could get some air under the charcoal.

    My missus looked at me like it was a normal thing to be wandering around
    with 5 kilo's of hot coal while the boy-chic fitted the grill supports
    (which I'd forgotten)

    I bought a set of "ratchetless" ratchet spanners (Torrington one-way
    bearings instead of a Sturmey Archer type of set-up) from Machine Mart a few
    years ago. 46 quid IIRC for the full boxed set (10 - 16mm) and they've stood
    up remarkably well. Good value and pretty to boot.
    Buying less expensive doesn't qualify for a pikey handle, you've got to buy
    cheap crap for that.
