Wiring an Immobiliser

I've bought one of those cheapo alarm/immobilizer/immobiliser thingys
off eBay, and am having some problems with the immobiliser bit.

I want to disable the starter button when the immobiliser is activated.
I've found the wire that goes from the starter button to the starter
relay, 12v for button pressed, 0v for button not pressed, as you'd expect.

With this immobiliser thing I have two wires, I had originally hoped
that there would be continuity between these two wires with the
immobiliser off, and no continuity with with the immobiliser on. If it
were like that then it'd be easy wire up. But it ain't.

When the immobiliser is off, there is continuity between the two wires,
and nowhere else. When the immobiliser is on, there is still continuity
between the two wires, but they're both also grounded. Presumably the
intention of the creator is that I wire it in series with the kill
switch (the creator assuming that when you press the kill switch the
'kill' wire is simply grounded), but I'm not doing this for two reasons:
firstly I don't want it killing my bike when I'm riding along, and
secondly my kill switch is 12v for engine on and 0v for engine off, and
grounding the 12v when the engine's on would just horribly short
    everything out.

    So, any ideas?!

    Hi Andy,

first of all I would not connect to a starter switch, as if the ignition is
linked out then the bike could be bumped, so the imobilizer is useless.

Not sure about the way you have discribed the wiring, but there was a system
that connected to the coil, and when the started was tried, all it did was
short out the coil to earth, but thats fine with a coil, but becarefull with
modern day electronics, dont short out, just try and brake feed to the
    electronics.

The best (simple) imoblizer I made was a stereo jack socket, and wire the
coil wire(or supply) to two pins of the connections, and the get the plug,
and wire a short so that when the plug is plugged in it makes contact, but
by removing the plug the connections are broke.

So hide the socket (and make sure you dont loose the plug) and that will
confuse anyone trying to nick it !!!

But all the wires you can find. That should immobilise it.

Cut all the wires you can find. That should immobilise it. Twice.
