.... I've just endured a weekend of motorcycle fettling, and nothing
    went dreadfully wrong.

Started off yesterday morning, when having been dismayed by the sight
of rain falling on the kitchen window, only to be surprised to find
the front of the house to be bathed in sunshine.

Wheeling the CBX of the lift, I gave in to temptation, and took it for
a short spin. By 'eck, them brakes are rubbish. Everything else was
    just fine.

Much like the old KH, it gives me a grin, every time I ride it.

It also gave me a chill, as it was a bit too cold for T shirt and
    jeans.

Back in the garage, the B'bird was next under the knife. Or
    angle-grinder, in this case.

Having de-headed two link pins, I drifted out the dead link, took out
the rear wheel, changed the sprockets, joined the old chain to the new
one with a zip-tie, and then pressed the new link in place. A few
thumps with a ball-pein hammer and I had a definite, if not
pronounced, lip on the protruding pins. All tips on how to achieve a
better result appreciated - preferably not including buying a chain
    joining tool.

Fairing back on, and I then swapped the original pipes for the trusty
old pair of Promotives. Out of curiosity, I fired it up whilst halfway
through. The exhaust from the OEM pipe was cool, whilst that emerging
from the Promotive was quite hot. Makes sense, I suppose.

So, new pipes and chain on the 'bird, so next was a new wheel/tyre on
    the Wing.

This all went to plan, too. All I have to do now is refit the caliper,
    and re-assemble the rear bodywork.

Only slight downer is having an Avon Venom on the back of the Wing
    again.

Quite odd, really - no problems, no bloodshed, and no bits left over.

Call yourself a National Treasure, do you? This kind of behaviour needs to
    be put before The Committee.

    No shit.

I put a new fuel pump on my Wing yesterday. Works lovely. Appalling to see
the brown piss that dribbled out of the old one.

    Oh dear...

I bought one of them once. It didn't even manage one chain before
    breaking.

    <Tip of the day mode>

    Keep the receipt.

  5. Depends what you bought, of course. The cheapies are utter shit, but
94bucks should get a pro grade one.

    Grimly Curmudgeon says...
According to the guys in workshops all over the country, the only chain
breaker/rivetter worth buying is the genuine DID one at about 85 quid -
    all the rest break.
