Apparently, tomorrow I am probably taking SWMBO out on the bike.

Tomorrow, I'm probably going out to play myself. There's no way the mrs
is coming on the back of mine!

I went for a bit of a play on the 10R this morning, and was quite
frankly disgusted at the number of decent roads that in the last few
weeks have been regraded as 50 zones.

I think I'm going to have to go further a field tomorrow to see if the
    disease has spread.

BEGGING for a response is that, but I'll just stick with....

No way mine's coming on the back of mine either. Well not again anyway.

But when a road gets re-graded, Plod tend to take a special interest in it
for a considerable amount of time. Far more than it warrants too.

I remember a road near me used to be totally de-restricted which REALLY
meant de-restricted and you could go along it as fast as whatever you were
in or on would go. (Some us remember those days) Then the blanket 70mph
limit came in and these days this same road has 5 camera's on it, a new
central barrier and a fucking 50 limit. It's madness I tell you. Traffic
bloody crawls along it at almost 50 until a camera hoves into view, then the
speed drops to a maximum of 40. I guarantee the limit will be dropped
    further eventually.

Anyone got a red flag on a stick going cheap?

Well no, but the one I realy noticed it on used to be an old favourite,
it's a lovely twisty country lane which now seems to have gained
processions of cars doing 40, and that's sort of removed the fun a
    little.

    Heh, if it happens.
She started making disparaging noises last night about it.

I think it's because she'll have to wear *those* leathers.

Hmm, but has yours expressed a pathological dislike of bikes up until

The ever present "they" have all but fucked up the Snake pass and Woodhead
pass and forcing slowness on us by the act of double white lining huge
swathes of it for no real good reason. This has brought traffic to a crawl
and few places where a legal overtake is possible remain, so lots of illegal
passing happens, but the point is, these wonderful roads are fucked now.

You spend more time wondering if Plod will see you overstep a line, or just
get a hair over the limit (40 mostly) than you do concentrating on the ride.

It's only a 30 quid fine IF you get pulled and with two up, the chances are
    slim that you will.

When I binned the bike, Plod came to the scene and the tax had just run out
on my bike and it needed its first MOT. Not a word was mentioned about
    either.

She tried it once in 1976 and didn't like it much so I had to learn to drive
a car. I kept my last bike (GSX550) for 17 years and she never got on it
once, then when it struggled to pass its MoT in August she decided
completely out of the blue that (a) it was time I had a new machine and (b)
she wanted her own crash helmet. She fell in love with the GSX750F
immediately, partly because it looked bigger and therefore had to be more
comfortable (i.e. than the old bike which she never rode on anyway) and
partly because it was a nicer colour.

We hit the road in about an hour's time, hopefully only metaphorically.
