    Just got back.

Well, firstly we had the sorting out which gear to wear.

*Those* 1 piece Wolf leathers really did not fit; the crotch was where
her knees are, and the knees were where her ankles are.

So, on with my lad's overtrousers and gay leather kacket (you know, the
ones that are always for sale at bike shows, 2 tone red and white with
various logos sewn on. A pair of stout boots were eventually found,
plus my lad's gloves and ill fitting AGV Lid.

She had to say a final goodbye to her mate next door (in case we didn't
make it back), and off we went.

A nice gentle bimble ensued, no real dramas other than the countryside
alliance special kamikaze pheasant division doing their worst.

Ended up at Foxes Diner for a hot drink, had a chat with a nice chap
who's just started a BMW GS rental business in Milton Keynes (I have
his card if anyone ever needs to hire a bike, including furriners).

This is where it all started to get a bit surreal...

I then found myself next door in MPS with her trying on various items
of motorcycle apparel, resulting in the purchase of:

New Caberg Lid with natty little flip down sun visor.
    New waterproof textile jacket.
    New waterproof textile trousers.
    New Boots.
    New Gloves.

I was a bit stunned when we left so I had to phone Lozzo for moral
support, unfortunately he wasn't in though, so we came home via the
dual carriageway with me still wondering whether this was a good idea.

So, there we are, a good but expensive afternoon out, and it appears
that I am now married to a motorcyclist.

    How did yours go?

I am waiting for this, believe you me.
In fact, it's all part of a plan, you see I can pass her the Zephyr,
thus keeping it in the stable, and get myself a new ride too.

    I rock.

She now has a jacket with pink flashes on it
    http://www.frank-thomas.co.uk/index.php?pge_id=11&product_id=97

plus matching gloves with pink bits.
    http://www.frank-thomas.co.uk/index.php?pge_id=11&product_id=102

    You would approve.

The completely pink leather jacket she also tried on was a bit much
    though.

Thank you but I can't take all the credit: three kids, a mortgage with
under-performing endowment policies and redundancy just at the wrong time
    all helped.

Unspectacular, which is good, I suppose. We borrowed some nearly-new Akito
kit on sale-or-return from a friend who was about to stick it on eBay and of
course she wore her new Caberg lid with natty little flip down sun visor. A
gentle bimble to a nearby hostelry where I consumed a very uncharacteristic
single shandy, then a bit of a zoom mostly on nice wide roads with sweeping
bends and not too many junctions. On the way back we touched 90 on a
section of dual carriageway which I believe is private road.
Ditto. She said the experience had been "nice" and I'm about to make my
friend an offer for the Akito gear.

I suppose it's all been a positive experience. Certainly I fancied that the
bike felt better with a little weight over the back wheel.

Things may never be the same again...

Ahh, cabergs with natty little visors must now officially be chick-lids.
Heh, think yourself lucky. I paid retail for mine.
I too have the same feeling. Un-nerving, isn't it.

Pah, I bought the wife a nice new pink leather jacket and before the fucking
CC bill arrived, it'd been removed by the paramedics using what must've been
    a bleedin' lawn mower.

She was more gutted than me and I still had to pay for it.

Your day almost mirrors mine when the missus stunned me by asking for a ride
    (on the bike fuckers:)

I ended up buying her all the gear and then buying even more because of the
"I like that jackey/those boots" moments. I've now got a bike gear storage
bin full of gear that's never likely to get worn again. Like I said, be
fucking careful when she's on the back.

My ZED *definitely* rode bumps far better when she was on the bike. So much
so, I got to the point where I could corner more quickly 2 up. Well at least
    'til I didn't, of course.
    There's no "may" about it.

Sorry squire, I was up to my elbows in fitting a **** off greeat big
Stebel air-horn onto an FZ6S Fazer... and what a **** of a job that was.
I saw the missed call, if that's any consolation, but decided that
whatever it is you wanted it's most likely been sorted in the three
hours since you tried to contact me.

Tell the missus to get her own fucking ride now she's got the gear.

  16. This is nothing more than an indication that your rear suspension was
set up far too hard for solo.

As did I. By the time I got back from lunch with the mrs it was starting
to get a bit parky so I took the new toy out for a brief trundle via
Henley, grabbed a coffee at Fox's and diced with some Caterham-type
    jalopy on the way home.

    I think I'm going to like owning something a bit rare. It's a poser's
    dream.

Good god no, the RGV's for sunny days and special occasions only. It's
only insured for < 3k miles a year and I'd be amazed if I got anywhere
near it. There's no way I'd ever have a smoker as my main bike - that
way lies insanity (and sunny days spent in the garage rather than out
    playing).

I've still got the SV as my main bike, though even that's for fun only
as I commute by train and have the pug for shopping runs.

I love the way heads turn when they hear the RGV. For something that
sounds like a strimmer fighting its way out of a bag of spanners it
    don't half shift!

I did see an RGV in the car park and wondered if it was you, but a
quick look around told me it wasn't.
