  1. The Doctor, after some months of "resting", has landed a post at the
Royal Marsden. And it's only a couple of miles away.

Cor. Solvency might return to the Chateau.

Ducati UK were at Brands at the weekend with their fancy truck
and they had a Paul Smart replica in there. By god it looked
nice. If the Sport 1000 is better than that, I might even
    consider one myself!

  4. I had one of these as a spotty 16YO.

What do you do with yours?

  7. Lucky little bastard. All new to him.

Never forget my first ride on the road [1]. Twas on the aforementioned
DT50MX out of my folks house over our hill top to have large chunks of
cotswold spread out in front of me as I crested the hill at a
mindblowing 32mph. Top of the world on the threshold of adulthood. Will
    never forget it.

....but then even nostalgia isn't what it used to be...

[1] I'd been competing off road since I was a tiny lad.

    (or even three).

And this one has a 65cc kit in it and does 50.

  15. Speaking of jobs, as of yesterday we have the funds for a post-doc
working on track reconstruction quality monitoring for the CMS detector at
CERN (data-taking to start late 2007[Ha!]). Candidates will need a PhD in
particle physics (or similar field/experience) and a top-notch knowledge
of C++. I believe it's now PPARC policy[1] to start newcomers on the
bottom end of the scale so don't expect much more than £20K.

[Ha!] An expression of disbelief, not a footnote.
[1] Thankfully _after_ I was hired.

I used to program on CMS - I'm sure everything else would be a doddle,
as long as I get that salary for just one day per week.
