Woo-hoo!

  1. My Ebay Baglux tank cover for the V-Max has arrived, instantly
transforming it into the ideal touring machine.

I really *could* go to Pahnd Island on it (if it's not raining). I must
get an up-to-date copy of "The Guide To UK Petrol Stations".

  3. Using the patented Mavis Beacon "Hunt&Peck" Technique, Fr Jack
    Oh ****.

    Yes, sorry.

OK, here's the deal. It's do-able, with provisos.

    1. It'd take a while. Things are busy right now.

    2. It needs a fairly substantial chunk of aluminium[1] if I make it from
'billet'. They do show up in the scrap yard from time to time, but not
regularly. You really don't want to know what it would cost to buy a
suitable piece from anywhere else. The commercial item is (IIRC) cast. I
can get that done, and it probably wouldn't cost too much. but would
mean a delay because I'd have to make a pattern, and my cheap foundry is
only cheap because he bungs my stuff onto the end of a production run.
Then I'd have to machine it.

    3. It would probably not end up as pretty as the commercial item without
me spending an inordinate amount of time and effort on finishing it. I
    wouldn't.

    4. If there was an undetected flaw in the casting that cracked and threw
you up the road into a queue of nuns and orphans, I would deny ever
    having met you.

[1] Probably two, 'cos I'll almost certainly **** one up[2].

I have some lumps sitting in the garage, don't know what sort of alloy it
    is, thobut.
What sort of size do you need? Our destructive test dept regularly has
    left-overs.

Both my main bikes have one and yesterday I picked up a map holder
thingy for the Triumph. Baglux rock.

Goes without saying - It's an interest, not a business, innit?
Having seen the price of billet items, I can have a good guess...
Roughly a couple of limbs and some vital organs
Considering the original item is a pressed plate, either would be
    better, I reckon.
If you're talking polishing and removing burrs, I have files, a
dremel-alike and access to polishing machines, so that wouldn't be a
problem. Anyway, it's pretty much buried with other stuff, and the
present version is ugly as sin, so function wins. ;-)
    You do that, anyway! ;-)
    You just collect door-stops, really...

No rush, I'll still look for one and let you know if I get it, so you
    don't waste your time.

    Cheers, chap!

Wouldn't postage from clogland be a bit expensive?

I'm miffed they don't do one for the Wing.

A full set would be handy.
