    For the Loton Park hill climbs they are supposed to drive the deer out
    of the track part of the park. Some years ago they were not always 100%
    succesful and on more than one occasion a moderately large beast would
    bound across the cours during someone's run.

    Nobody ever hit one AFAIK but curiously they seemed more likely to do
    it when a bike was coming up rather than a car - "sorry mate I didn't
    see you".

    Rather more than faintly ginger however, posted about a year ago, but
    obviously with a different url. Still amusing, though.
