There are Merkins like Art Spiegelman [1] who show that a comic book
can be something better than this thing... Check his Maus if you ever
have to buy a comic book.

    [1] http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Art_Spiegelman
Art Spiegelman (born February 15, 1948) is an American comics artist,
editor and advocate for the medium of comics, best known for his
Pulitzer Prize-winning comic memoir, Maus. [2]

    [2] http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maus
Maus: A Survivor's Tale is a memoir presented as a graphic novel by Art
Spiegelman. It recounts Spiegelman's father's struggle to survive the
Holocaust as a Polish Jew and draws largely on his father's
recollections of events he personally experienced. The book also
follows the author's troubled relationship with his father and the way
the effects of war reverberate through generations of a family. In 1992
it won a Pulitzer Prize Special Award. The New York Times described the
selection of Maus for the honor: "The Pulitzer board members ... found
the cartoonist's depiction of Nazi Germany hard to classify."

The use of media graded to the comprehension level of parts of the target
audience (including the use of comics) was discussed by IIRC John Brunner in
about 1970. Good to see it's finally being given an airing.

Yebbut should I trust something whose first statement includes "five
arab nationals"? Is there an Arab nationality? Or is it a way to avoid
saying the name of countries allied to the US (Saudi Arabia and
Pakistan) that have something to say in the genesis of that AlQaeda
thing in constrast to the supposed terrorist link in Iraq prior to the
    invasion?

  14. So the 'Only in America, huh?' wasn't a point, a commentary on the
release of the work? If not, what was the point?

I wish I'd seen that a while back, at the Enron bit...

"We can't find Osama because Arthur Andersen fucking shredded him."

    Quality.

  17. Well from here it appears you posted a link hoping for a cheap laugh
at Americans and then got snippy when asked what the point was.
    You're thinking?

It wasn't a cheap laugh I was aiming for at all, more sadness and
disbelief that some Americans have to stoop to cartoon level over
    something as deep as this.
More so than you, it would appear.

  20. OK, that makes sense. Now why is 'cartoon level' stooping?
    Simply asking for clarification.
