    I recognise that sound. For the first 30 seconds or so, it sounds just like
    my 2.5DI Transit on a fast idle.

    Don't F1 cars use some alternative (pneumatic) system now.

    I'm not impressed by those tiny bits of metal going up and down.

    Now looking at the pistons on the end of the conrods, that's
    impressive.

    They're changing direction twice each crank rotation, so at At 10K rpm
    that's 20,000 times a minute, which'll be 20000/60 = 333 times per
    second.

    They're relatively big chunks of metal too.

    Oh, and the reciprocating mass and acceleration G force is pretty
    impressive too, but the equations are a bit mind bending for this time
    of night ..
