Wozza vs the food police - who's right?

"The chef is not encouraging people to eat the pie all the time
A sweet pie concocted for children by television chef Antony Worrall
Thompson is one of least healthy ever dreamed up, a food watchdog has
said. One slice contains more than 1,250 calories, the Food Commission
says. Estimated daily average requirements are 2,550 for men, and 1,940
    for women.

The pudding mixes five Snickers bars with mascarpone, eggs, sugar, soft
    cheese and puff pastry.

Mr Worrall Thompson said the dessert was an occasional children's
    treat."

    [continues]

"Mr Worrall Thompson said: "Obviously this goes straight on the hips and
    is not for regular use.

"We are not encouraging people to do this all the time. My message is
don't exclude any food groups. We try to tell everyone to eat in
    moderation and nothing in excess."

I happen to agree with Mr W T on this one. You obviously wouldn't
(couldn't?) eat Snickers pie all the time but an occasional treat in
amongst a diet that is basically a healthy balanced one can't do you any
    harm.

What says the ukrm noshing department?

  2. Peanuts and chocolate shouldn't be mixed in my opinion, or vicintiy.

Both have their merits, but never the twain should meet.

But if you eat so many calories in such a short time do as many of
them get absorbed by the digestive system as if they were eaten over a
longer period? How many go straight down the shitter?

He's probably right - just so long as none of his victims gets a craving

I think the food police should spend mroe time worrying about the idiots
that eat processed shit and McD's every day, not people that are adult
enough to decide to have a pudidng occasionaly.

Occasional Pudding. Is that a bit like a Summer Pudding but with more

Let's face it, going to a posh restaurant is "having dinner with extreme
prejudice". We want seared, fatty, expensive, port-beJus'ed dead things, and
we want them now. Steamed haddock with wilted spinach and a sorbet for
    dessert is for

    - off-menu ordering Americans with food "issues"
    - wealthy Daily Mail-reading thirtysomething birds doing January Detox
    - people with more money than sense

In any case, how is this any less healthy than the classic chocolate truffle
"cake" recipe, as resurrected by Rose Gray and Ruth Rogers of the River Cafe,
consisting of Valrhona chocolate, whipped cream, and nothing else?

Oh I dunno, my mate Mick has gone out in the channel on a boat today. I

    have got in the shops.

He hasn't phoned so I had sausage roll beans and chips.

.... has it on page 17.
